Stephen E. Utley
Field Representative
Steve Utley joined the firm in 2008 as a Field Representative. His railroad career started in June of 1966 working as a fireman for the L&N Railroad out of Evansville, Indiana in the St. Louis Subdivision. During his railroad career, the L&N was purchased by the Seaboard Coastline Railroad and finally, the CSX in the 1980’s.
While working for the Railroad, Steve was called into active service for the U.S. Army in March of 1968. After his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged in November 1969 and returned to the Railroad.
In 1970, he was promoted to Engineer and became a member of BLET Division 742. He transferred to the Henderson Subdivision in 1971 and served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Division from 1976 until his election as Local Chairman in 1993. Steve served as Local Chairman of Division 742 until his retirement in 2008. As Local Chairman, Steve was involved in numerous investigations, time claims and grievances on behalf of his members.
